Owners of property in Adelaide could be interested to know that a Major Development is taking place in SA, as such a project is of great environmental, social and economic significance to the State.
In choosing to categorise the $5 billion Braemar Bulk Export Project a Major Development, the State Government will be subjecting the scheme to the most rigorous environmental and economic assessment.
Operating at full capacity, the export project is expected to produce substantial growth to the state’s exports of iron ore concentrate – bringing it to more than 100 million tones per year from its current 12 million.
If approved, the corridor would supply low-cost, high-volume transport of iron ore to port. The amount of iron ore being shipped would likely increase by eight-fold and contribute a 385 km infrastructure corridor.
The project would connect iron ore resources in SA’s north-east to the upper Spencer Gulf, north of Adelaide, where the iron ore would be processed, filtered, stored and loaded for export.
Four underground iron ore slurry pipelines, roads, a power transmission network, fibre optic communications and four water pipelines are all included in the project plans.
Such an important development will raise economic productivity, helping to increase the value real estate in Adelaide and making SA a more attractive place to live.
