Residents of real estate in Adelaide are encouraged to nominate the Citizen of the Year, an award that acknowledges exceptional community members for their contributions over the course of the year.
The awards are meant to recognise ordinary people who have carried out excellent, important work in the community. There are three categories for the awards: Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year.
Eligible nominees can be working in a wide range of public services, such as education, health, fundraising, charitable and voluntary work, as well as business, sports, art and environment – as long as their efforts contribute to the progress and prosperity of the City of Adelaide.
Nominees must have made a meaningful effort to assist in the advancement of the city, be an exemplar member of society, and be an Australian citizen to be eligible.
"I encourage you to nominate anyone you think deserves to be acknowledged for their efforts, and remember there are a lot of young people out there doing amazing things in their communities who are also eligible for nomination," said Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood.
For owners of property in Adelaide who know someone in the community that goes above and beyond to make a real difference, perhaps now is the time to recognise their efforts?
