The latest Deloitte report ‘Positioning for Prosperity? Catching the next wave’ identified international education as one of five potential growth sectors for the Australian economy.
Fortunately, Adelaide appears to have become a sought after destination for international students to study abroad. A total of 27,000 international students studied in South Australia last year and resulting in an $879 million boost to the local economy, according to figures from the Adelaide City Council. International education was the largest service sector export and sixth largest export earner.
Owners of real estate in Adelaide will be pleased to know that this year will see the largest influx of international students into the South Australian region.
“Adelaide has been voted fifth most liveable city two years running so there is no doubt in my mind that Adelaide is a great place for international students to further their education,” said Lord Major Stephen Yarwood in a March 27 statement.
Not only do these students contribute to the SA economy, but they can return to their home countries as ambassadors for the great city of Adelaide.
“The sheer numbers of students returning to Adelaide to continue their studies speaks volumes, not only for the education they are receiving, but also for Adelaide as a great place to live, study and work,” said Mayor Yarwood.
As the economy strengthens, the values of homes and investment properties can follow suit. This optimism might just make it a perfect time to consider purchasing property in Adelaide.
