With Australia Day just around the corner, people who own real estate in Adelaide will no doubt be turning their attentions to how they will celebrate.
The state government has been doing the same and announced that Adelaide Metro will be offering free public transport on its buses, trains and trams on January 26.
This will give people the added incentive of making the most of the occasion using local transport and also coincides with the One Day International between Australia and England.
Furthermore, the Santos Tour Down Under in the City is also scheduled for this weekend, which will see some of the world’s best cyclists taking to Adelaide’s CBD.
Transport minister Chloe Fox commented: “More than 35,000 people are expected to celebrate Australia Day in the City, with the annual parade, twilight concert at Elder Park and fireworks.
“Free public transport provides many of those people a safe alternative to driving into the CBD or anywhere else to celebrate our national day.”
She noted that real-time passenger information is available to anyone using public transport, which should make their journey much easier to plan.
Tram and bus times can be accessed using a smartphone so people know exactly when the next service is due to arrive.
