It's Australia's national day, and what better way for those with property in Adelaide to celebrate all the good things that this country has to offer than by attending one of the many fantastic events that have been planned for Adelaide.
If you're looking to pass Australia Day in the sun before events kick off in the evening, Adelaide has a beautiful selection of beaches to choose from. Take a short trip out of the city to Glenelg to recline on the white sandy beach, or to Henley beach for a stroll along the jetty. With two such stunning beaches within ten kilometres of the city centre, it's no wonder that new research from Roy Morgan has now confirmed that Adelaide residents love the beach more than any other city.
Residents are then invited spend Australia Day in the City on Monday 26 January, where Adelaide City Council is holding a fantastic array of family-friendly events, from fireworks to music, to the annual street parade. The event will kick off at 6pm with one of the largest Australia Day parades in the country, which has seen more than 4000 people come out in force to celebrate being Australian. There are floats and displays from over 150 groups from all across South Australia, with vintage cars, horses, a fly past by an F-18 Hornet jet plane – and even a giant echidna!
The celebrations then move to a free outdoor concert at around 7pm, where families can enjoy a balmy summer evening listening to some great Australian music by Sneaky Sound System and Brothers3. Finally, to cap off the night, the concert will be followed by a spectacular Australia Day fireworks finale.
There will also be a range of food and beverage stalls to suit all tastes but be aware that no BYO or glass will be permitted in Elder Park, with the exception of the Coopers Bar which will operate from 5pm to 11pm. Parking is also available but may be limited, so make sure to plan accordingly or consider taking any of the major bus, tram or train routes to avoid any delays.
Hot off the heels of Adelaide City Council's terrific New Year's Eve party, these Australia Day celebrations are yet another perfect example of why people choose to rent and buy in Adelaide.
