It’s never a bad time to expose yourself to a little bit of culture. One of the best things about living in an urbane, cosmopolitan city like Adelaide is the fact that you have the opportunity to expose yourself to a multitude of different experiences you might never have tried otherwise. Just ask anyone with property in Adelaide – they’ll tell you.
What further proof do you need than the Cabaret Festival currently charming the city until 21 June? Now in its 13th year, the event is regarded as the most comprehensive cabaret festival in the world, with local, national and international acts all joining in the fun.
Local stars such as Anthony Warlow will perform on the same stage as international stars like Darlene Love, Sven Ratzke and Kathy Najimy. If that last name sounds familiar, it’s probably because you’ve seen her in the classic Sister Act and heard her as the voice of the long-suffering Peggy Hill on television. It truly is a festival of stars!
And it’s not all song and dance – though to be sure, you’ll see plenty of that if you so desire. There’ll be satire, comedy and storytelling, too, so whatever your preference happens to be, you’ll find something to like.
Overall, the festival will feature 470 artists and a total of 173 performances. It will take place at the Adelaide Festival Centre, an obvious choice as owners of real estate in Adelaide well know.
If that wasn’t enough, you can check out the latest art from Melbourne-based artist David Bromley, whose work is being curated at the centre especially for the festival. However, even if you miss out on the exhibition of his work, you’re not going to avoid Bromley – he is after all responsible for the look of the whole festival, from brochures to foyers.
