Soon to be Australia’s first capital city to have free Wi-Fi access throughout the CBD, Adelaide recently started by installing it in Hindmarsh Square. Pioneering widespread access to free Wi-Fi will build Adelaide’s reputation as an intelligent and forward-thinking city.
Owners of property in North Adelaide will be happy to hear that coverage will reach parts of the suburb, as well as the southern half of the CBD.
Although currently Hindmarsh Square is the only place with free Wi-Fi, eventually there will be access in public squares and parks, the Riverbank Precinct and the Central Market. Internode, the company providing the service, plans on making coverage available during public events like Adelaide Festival, Fringe, and Tour Down Under Village.
Providing free high speed high speed Wi-Fi makes it possible for visitors, students, and residents get information while they are out and about. The ease and convenience of accessing information will help to make Adelaide a contemporary, progressive city.
It will also help activate public spaces by making them more desirable places for meetings and picnics. Students can utilise Wi-Fi to do research outside on nice days and business people can stay in touch with clients while away from the office.
Widespread Wi-Fi also makes real estate in Adelaide more attractive, as the city of Adelaide becomes a forerunner in the use of smart technology.
