Adelaide among most liveable cities on earth

By Brett Pilgrim

New data has placed Adelaide among the top ten most liveable places on the entire planet, in a survey of 140 cities.

The August 2014 Liveability Rankings study, undertaken by The Economist Intelligence Unit, has placed Adelaide as the 5th most liveable place to be, tied with Calgary in Canada. The study looks into factors like healthcare, culture, education and infrastructure, settling on a liveability ranking out of 100 – Adelaide scored an incredible 96.6 overall! This sees the city beat out both Sydney and Perth, which also finished in the top ten.

Adelaide's score included perfect 100 results for healthcare and education, highlighting the amazing quality of hospitals and schools in the city.

The findings state that wealthier countries with lower population density often produce more liveable cities, which makes Australian municipalities a strong contender year after year. The global average number of people per square kilometre is 45.65, while in Australia this average comes right down to only 2.88. Crime rates are also well below the global average – despite a perceived spike in crime, Australia actually remains a very safe place to live.

This result is just further confirmation that Adelaide is an excellent place to settle and if you look at our wide range of real estate in Adelaide, it isn't hard to see why. The food and wine is top of the line, there are rolling green parks everywhere you look, and the arts scene is constantly expanding – we truly do have it all.
